Social Rape

She was raped. And then brutally killed. What if she was NOT killed?
We had a volatile discussion yesterday. Some said it was in a way good that she is no more. Some felt there's more to human life than what society thinks of it.
If you were her husband, how would you react?
And what if you were the victim — raped and NOT killed?
Do you care for wagging tongues or your loved ones?

But many of the girls and woman felt as it is good that she is dead. I feel it is because these people thinks and imagine only the negative side. And they are scared to face the world and society after such incident. Because this society always showed sympathy, and newer gave love to rape victims. And most of the times it is masked sympathy, the victim has always become an un touchable after rape. since they have got lot of such evidences throughout our male dominated history which force them to think like that .
My question is, what is the bigger crime in your views
Rape?
Murder ?
In my opinion, there are two things that need to be done....
Enable the women: Teach them to be strong. Learn self defence. Make her believe that she does not need a man to protect her. She can do it on her own. Also, dont attach so much value to a woman's chastity. A rape does not make her any lesser of a human being.
Make laws more strict and harsh: With a good lawyer and enough money, anyone can get away with even the most heinous of crimes. Make the law stricter. Any violation of law should be punishable with rigorous imprisonment. Minor violations like traffic violations, etc should also have very hefty fines associated to it.
but she should have lived...at least a loving husband would have nurtured her back to life...fuck what the world has to say...
the rapist took away her dignity...but taking life ...i dont agree, to either.
if i was raped. i rather go to counselling and live on
the best way to react to rape is to not let it affect me (though it wont be easy)in the long run.
there is more to my life than 15 minutes of rape.
a question, would it be different for guys, if they were raped by a woman and if they were raped by a man?
for those who are smirking on how a woman can rape a man
i strongly believe in this
frankly i am startled that this is a choice.
"Definitely murder is worse than rape".
Murder kills you once and it takes you away from reality and pain.
But Rape Leave you alive with all your thoughts dead, kills you everyday and every moment you face the world, until the dead body is buried…
In India it makes worse for any such victim to live with dignity.
Rape should be considered as bigger crime than murder and should be punished severely without hesitation.
But prevention should be the first priority than punishment. This rape is not first and it is also not going to be the last. Woman needs to be trained for self defense.
I was talking with a lawyer friend of mine. We were discussing the law and women's rights. She told me about this incident in Pune - a young girl was raped by a man posing as a plain clothes officer; he asked her to come to the police station when she and her male friend didn't have a driver's license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station. Took her instead to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed.
Infact, the law clearly states that between 6 pm and 6am, a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her.It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6pm and 6 am, ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN police station. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest.
It is good for us to know our rights. To what extent it comes of use remains to be seen in any situation. But as they say, knowledge is power.
This discussion began with what each one of us opines. Or, as I think, it's more on an imbalance in social thinking.
Why should you force an opinion, and render others are asses? I don't find the discussion crap. Maybe, you are too prejudiced to think that you are correct. But, in the process, it looks like you missed out on the bigger picture. There is, a social divide in thought processes, and will always remain.
There are better things than calling people asses. Go ahead, and educate others if they support the so-called honor killings.
I have an opinion and I will stay will it, come what may.
Take another look, Anonymous, we are NOT dicussing honor killings here. Look at the bigger picture, will you?
Do you have a name?
